International airport Khanty-Mansiysk - JSC "Yugraavia"
At the end of 1934, the famous polar pilot N.I. Tselibeev was instructed to make a flight on the plane Yakovlev AIR-6 and land in Ostyako-Vogulsk due to the preparation for the first northern routes opening along the Ob and Irtysh rivers.
That time there had already been Samarovo airport of the Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route in Ostyako-Vogulsk (the old name of Khanty-Mansiysk).
About a month later (according to TASS), the first scheduled flight was made from Tyumen to Obdorsk passing through Samarovo.
The flight from Tyumen to Ostyako-Vogulsk was made on the 19th of December in 1935.
On the 27th of November in according with the Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialistic Republic, the district center Khanty-Mansiysk became the city of Khanty-Mansiysk and the village Samarovo was included in that city.
In April, 12 in 1956 Samarovo Airport was renamed as Khanty-Mansiysk Airport. The discovery of oil and gas fields in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and their development required significant changes in the development of air transportation in the region.
The decision to build a new airport in the upland of Khanty-Mansiysk was taken in 1967.
In 1973 the airport "Khanty-Mansiysk" was put into operation.
In the early 90s the Administration of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug made a decision to reconstruct the airport.
In February 1994 due to the reorganization of the airline in Khanty-Mansiysk, JSC Yugravavia was established and performed all the necessary functions to support the activities and operation of the international airport Khanty-Mansiysk, being the Airport Corporation.
